MCQST PhD & Postdoc Boards
MCQST aims to further enhance the visibility and participation of PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers within the cluster by establishing dedicated boards. Each board will have its own budget to self-manage, it will represent the needs of their community and will commit to in building a inclusive, and engaged community with the support of the MCQST office.
Peer Advocacy
Represent your peers' concerns and interests to the Executive Committee (EC).
Budget Allocation
Decide on budget distribution for PhD or Postdoc-focused activities (events, workshops, retreats).
Shaping the community
You will have the opportunity not only to represent your peers' interest, but also to actively shape the MCQST community.
Social and Networking Events
Plan networking events that foster connections and collaboration, represent the Board at events organized by the MCQST Office (e.g., Welcome Event, MCQST Conference).
Supervision Award Evaluation
Serve on the jury with the MCQST Office Team to select the annual IMPRS/MCQST Supervision Award winner each November/December.
PhD Community Feedback Session
Gather and assess peer feedback annually, e.g. during the General Assembly.

Roles within the Boards
MCQST Representatives
2 Positions - Members of the Executive Committee (EC)
Oversee the Board’s activities and act as the main point of contact for the MCQST office and the EC. Participation in EC meetings is required (approx. every two months).
The Scribes of Quantum Order
1-2 positions
Coordinating meeting agendas and documenting decisions made during meeting and discussion.
Queen/King of Coin
2 positions
Masters of financial foresight and budget balancing, making sure not a single euro disappears into a black hole.
Alice & Bob Signal Coordinator(s)
1-2 positions
Coordinating all communication within the community, crafting messages, and summoning your peers to events and calls.
Note: The IMPRS-QST Representatives are also part of the PhD board. The specific roles and responsibilities will be assigned among board members once it is established.

Good to know
Board meetings
Board meetings should take place every third month for general updates, decision-making, and planning. Additional ad-hoc meetings may be planned if urgent planning issues come up.
Decision making withing the board
• Simple majority for budget or policy decisions.
• Quorum: at least >50% participants in the meetings where decisions are met (especially related to budget)
Board term length
The board members are elected every two years. Should a board member leave the community early, the vacancy will be filled during the current term.
