Emily Haworth - QST Master
1. Briefly describe your current position, research focus, and your role within MCQST.
I'm currently a second year student of the QST Masters, and I also work in the MCQST office. Through organising workshops and conferences, this job is a great way to see lots going on in MCQST, and is helping me to decide on a research direction for starting my thesis next year!
2. Can you tell us more about PushQuantum: Climate?
I created a new initiative with PushQuantum at the union of sustainability and quantum technology. Especially when thinking of quantum as a future technology, I believe we cannot take it out of the context we are developing it in - which is a climate emergency caused by past technological progress. Our purpose is to direct and support the growth of this technology to be an overall carbon negative endeavour. One way researchers can help this now is by offsetting their research!

3. What are you looking forward to over the holidays?
I'm really looking forward to seeing my family. We are meant to be skiing in Austria, which is seeming less likely every day, but even if we end up just isolating together drinking hot chocolate, that's okay with me!
