First graduate of the new Master’s program in Quantum Science and Technology (QST) of LMU and TUM completes degree in only one year

Mr. Sirui Lu is the first graduate of the new Master’s program in Quantum Science and Technology (QST) jointly offered by the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM). It took him only one year to complete all the requirements of the two-year program. “When we started to organize the program after the establishment of the Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology (MCQST), we hoped to attract top talents from all over the world to work on quantum technologies in the Munich area,” says Prof. Alexander Holleitner, one of the coordinators of the Master’s program. “The program is well balanced between theoretical and experimental courses, and it greatly benefits from the excellent scientific environment fostered by the MCQST cluster,” says Prof. Jan von Delft, another coordinator.

In the QST Master’s program, fundamental concepts are taught in classroom lecture courses, while advanced practical training and Master’s projects are conducted in MCQST research groups. “We are delighted to support the training of young talents in the QST Master program to prepare them for cutting edge research, as they are the future scientists and professionals working on quantum technologies,” comments Dr. Tatjana Wilk, the general manager of MCQST. Not only is Mr. Lu the first alumnus of the QST program, but he also obtained his QST Master’s degree with distinction. “Sirui Lu set a very high standard – may it inspire current and future students of our program to pursue their studies with similar enthusiasm and dedication!” says Holleitner.
