PLANCKS 2022
PLANCKS is an annual international team competition in theoretical physics. In 2022, PLANCKS will be hosted by the DPG as a member of iaps and is organized by the Faculty of Physics of the LMU Munich.
What is PLANCKS?
From 5 to 8 May, Munich will be the venue of one of the greatest international events for physics students: PLANCKS (= Physics League Across Numerous Countries for Kick-ass Students). It is a team competition which challenges its participants with demanding problems from the field of theoretical physics. The competing teams will come from at least 34 countries, located all over the world. As the pandemic might still complicate the participation of some of them, PLANCKS is planned as a hybrid event.
Next to the actual competition, an extensive framework programme will take place offering to the participants an insight into the scientific and cultural landscape of Munich as well as many occasions for networking. It includes excursions to scientific institutions like the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics and the Walther Meißner Institute for Low Temperature Research. Also four guest lectures will be held by physicians who are active in Munich, among them Sibylle Günter as director of the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics and the Nobel prize laureate Reinhard Genzel. The public is invited to join the lectures.
MCQST a supporting partner of 2022 and is arranging an interactive workshop for the participants to learn how to manage their stress and mental health working in a competitive field such as physics.
