What you always wanted to know about quantum science, but never dared to ask

The PhotonLab student laboratory has been active since 2011 and is enjoying a great popularity. Since the summer of 2019, the PhotonLab is supported by the new Cluster of Excellence MCQST (Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology).

We would like to take this opportunity to invite teachers to get an insight into the current quantum research through carefully curated experiements. On this occasion, teachers will have the chance to witness first-hand fundamental principles such as superposition, entanglement, quantum computer, and quantum cryptography. All these topics are increasingly relevant and play an ever-greater role in our lives and in the lives of students all ages.

The PhotonLab tackles some of these topics and makes them available for students to be experienced first-hand. The event aims to introduce teachers to the PhotonLab, as well as to offer insights into a typical school class visit or any other type of event, where students get a chance to use the laboratory.

What is the PhotonLab?

The PhotonLab is a student laboratory for photonics. The lab offers school group visits, teacher training, support for senior scientific seminars (W-Seminararbeiten), student internships, as well as support for entering physics competitions. You can learn more about the PhotonLab on its website.

Was Sie schon immer über Quanten wissen wollten, aber nie zu fragen wagten.

Das Schülerlabor PhotonLab existiert seit 2011 und erfreut sich großer Beliebtheit. Seit Sommer 2019 wird das PhotonLab vom neuen Exzellenzcluster - Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology (MCQST) unterstützt.

Das nehmen wir zum Anlass, Ihnen einen Einblick in die aktuelle Forschung mit Quanten zu geben. Dabei kommen Superposition, Verschränkung, Quantencomputer und Quantenkryptografie zur Sprache. Themen, die in unserem und dem Leben Ihrer Schüler eine immer größere Rolle spielen.

Einige dieser Themen greift das PhotonLab auf und macht es für Schüler erfahrbar. Deshalb werden auch das PhotonLab sowie der Ablauf eines Schulklassenbesuches vorgestellt, ebenso wie die Möglichkeiten, wie Schüler das Labor nutzen können.

Was ist das PhotonLab?

Das PhotonLab ist ein Schülerlabor zur Photonik. Hier können nach einer Einführung Klassen (ab etwa Jgst. 10) selber experimenieren. Zusätzlich bietet das Labor Lehrerfortbildungen, Betreuung von W-Seminararbeiten, Schülerpraktika, sowie Hilfe bei Wettbewerben (IYPT, GYPT). Mehr können Sie auf der PhotonLab Webseite erfahren.
